In racing engines and high performance is well known that the beneficial effect involves the thermal insulation of the exhaust with products designed specifically for this function.
The physical principle which justifies the increased engine power is related to the ease with which the engine is able to expel the burned gases. If the exhaust gases are cooled in the exhaust manifold, they increase their density and thus decrease its output rate, costing more work to expel motor. In an extreme case a severe leak sealing the engine is without power and may even stop.
Likewise, if we imagine the engine as if it were a compressor, a greater ability to expel the burned gas mixture easier to suck burning and hence arises the power increase, we checked with the manifold.
Another beneficial effect of the exhaust manifold lagging is that keeps the engine compartment cooler, which is beneficial for both gasoline and air to the carburetor.
Let's not forget that all the peripheral elements of the motor (tires, belts, electrical cables, regulators ...) also benefit from a lower working temperature.
Installation note
To facilitate the installation of the tape is recommended to place it to soak in a bucket of warm water for several minutes. To set the start and end of the tape, we recommend using safety wire.
Important note
After installing the tape, and only during the first minutes of engine operation is normal for white smoke is apparent. This is due to the combustion of additives which will give strength and sealing tape.
It is recommended to perform this operation with the hood removed.
